Hot Lunch Program Supports Seniors in Need
Campbell River & District Adult Care Society’s Hot Lunch Program feeds seniors who are in need of nutritional, emotional and physiological support. The program reaches seniors who may be isolated or living with an illness. It connects them with their peers for meaningful interaction and other support.
“I first became familiar with the hot lunch program when my father was living on his own and struggling with isolation and loneliness. The staff and volunteers, as well as the hot nutritious meal made such a difference for my father as well as his extended family. Attending the centre has now become the highlight of his day. I have noticed a decrease in his depression as well as he has gained some weight from having the three course meals. The onsite nurse also assesses his weight and blood pressure and contacts us with any concerns.” -- Family Member of Senior
